What is AI Literacy and Why It Matters for Your Child

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a concept of the future it’s part of your child’s world today. From voice assistants like Siri to recommendation engines on YouTube and Netflix, AI is shaping the way our children learn, play, and communicate. This age-appropriate workshop helps children (ages 5–18) understand what AI is, how it works, and how to use it safely, ethically, and creatively.

We teach children to think critically about how AI influences their everyday lives. Through games, stories, and real life examples, we explore important ideas like how machines learnwhat data is, and why fairness and responsibility matter when using technology. Children also learn about common AI applications in healthcare, education, and the arts sparking curiosity and confidence rather than fear.

Understanding AI gives your child a future ready mindset. Studies show that early exposure to AI concepts helps young people become responsible digital citizens and encourages more inclusive participation in the future workforce (Touretzky et al., 2019). Our workshop also integrates emotional intelligence and teamwork, so children learn not only to use AI but to lead with values in an AI-powered world.

Since 2020, there’s been a global push to include AI literacy in basic education. The UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Children recommends that learners not only understand AI technology but also recognize its social impact including issues of bias, transparency, and data privacy (UNESCO, 2021). Our curriculum aligns with these international standards and is updated regularly to reflect current best practices.

As His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wisely stated:
“Artificial Intelligence is not just a tool of the future it is the future itself.”
This vision drives the UAE’s national AI strategy and inspires our mission to equip children with the skills they need to thrive in a fast changing world (UAE Government Portal, 2023).
